What is Nakshtra in Vedic Astrology?

We know that the signs have divided 360 degrees into 12 and each sign has the 30 degrees space which maps one house of horoscope. Moon transits through each sign in 2 and half days and it passes through different star constellations. It said that moon passes through these 28 lunar mansions in the one cycle. In mythology they were considered as moon’s wives. The star constellations or lunar mansions are also known as Nakshatra. Each sign has usually three to two and half nakshatras.

The names of the nakshatras are

Ashwini

Bharani

Kritika

Rohini

Your life has close association with the energy that comes from these nakshatras for each planet in your horoscope. The nakshatra of Moon , Sun and Ascendant nakshatra are very important.

If you have a planet in a nakshatra that means that nakshatra is active in your horoscope. The moon nakshatra is commonly known as nakshatra and it is used to name the baby. Each Nakshatra has 4 pada and each pada goes to the different navmasha. It each pada has a letter associated with that nakshatra.
